Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Radiofrequency ablation is a procedure performed in the office with local anesthesia utilizing heat to close the greater, lesser, or perforating veins. Using ultrasound, your physician will position the ClosureFast catheter into the diseased vein through a small opening in the skin. The catheter powered by radiofrequency energy delivers heat to the vein wall. As the thermal energy is delivered, the vein wall shrinks, the vein is sealed, and blood will re-route itself to other healthy veins.
