Kristina Gaunt, MD, FACS
Kristina Gaunt, MD, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon who completed her undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her 5-year general surgery residency training in Des Moines, Iowa in 2017. Dr. Gaunt is also Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her husband Jeff is a native Michigander, prompting Dr. Gaunt’s relocation to Western Michigan.
Additionally, Dr. Gaunt is an assistant professor of surgery at Michigan State University. She proctors residents from Detroit Medical Center, as well as physician assistant students through Michigan State University.
She offers a wide-range of skills to our patients here in Western Michigan. General Surgery and Breast Surgery are her primary specialties. She is a dedicated member of the breast cancer team through Mercy Hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Center and works with a multi-disciplinary team to provide excellent breast care to the community. In addition, she provides multiple other services including endoscopy, colonoscopy, colorectal surgery, hernia surgery, minimally invasive surgeries, robotic surgeries and other acute general and trauma cares.
Dr. Gaunt and her husband Jeff reside in Norton Shores with their three young boys and their dog, Max. In her free time she can be found enjoying her family-time and traveling. She also loves the beach and spending time out on Lake Michigan.
