Ultherapy: A Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Option

There’s a new choice available for anyone seeking facial rejuvenation. While facelift has traditionally been the go-to solution for lifting the skin at the neck, chin and brow, now there’s Ultherapy®, a non-invasive procedure that can replace or postpone the need for a surgical facelift.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy lets you treat loose skin without surgery, without impacting the surface of your skin, and without the considerable recovery time required after a surgical facelift procedure. While the procedure won’t duplicate the results of a surgical facelift, Ultherapy is a clinically proven non-invasive alternative for those not interested in or yet ready for surgery. Ultherapy provides proven results in a single treatment for most patients.

Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure for lifting and tightening skin (including improving lines and wrinkles in the upper chest) without surgery. Using ultrasound imaging, energy is delivered precisely where it benefits the skin the most, for natural-looking results that improve over time.

As a natural protein, collagen works to give skin its youthfulness by keeping it firm and toned. As we age, collagen breaks down, and the result is a loss of skin strength and elasticity. That’s where Ultherapy steps in and lifts up, through ultrasound therapy. Ultherapy uses microfocused ultrasound to generate a thermal effect under the skin. This essentially jump-starts your body’s own process to create fresh, new collagen. Ultherapy goes deeper than other non-invasive treatments to stimulate the production of collagen.

Unlike lasers, radio frequency, surgery and other technologies, nonsurgical Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin through ultrasound energy with focused imaging—to target just the right amount at the right depths and the right temperature. The result is a jumpstart to your body’s own collagen production.

Results appear over two to three months as new collagen works to lift skin on the neck, chin, brow or upper chest—whichever area(s) was targeted. Results may continue to improve over the following three to six months, and can last a year or more.

There are no pre- or post-treatment skin care requirements associated with Ultherapy. Treatment takes about an hour, in the doctor’s office, and there’s no recovery time necessary. Your skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to the touch, but these effects are mild and temporary in nature.
