Mary Tyler, LMT

Mary Tyler is a recently retired English professor from Muskegon Community College where she specialized in teaching the Literature of William Shakespeare, Poetry Writing, and Film. She was also the Chair of the Muskegon Writers’ Series for over 15 years, where she brought authors and poets to Muskegon: David Sedaris, Eve Ensler, Billy Collins, Mary Karr, Frank McCourt, Garry Trudeau, and many more. (She earned her college degrees from the University of Michigan and Western Michigan University: BA in English, MA in English, and an MFA in Creative Writing.)

After retirement, she realized how much she missed working with people, and since she has always wanted to become a Massage Therapist, she attended Blue Heron Academy and recently earned her LMT.

Mary has three adult kids who she adores fiercely, as well as a super cool husband. She loves traveling, attending live music concerts and festivals, writing poetry, gardening, boating, and reading. She has two collies, Rosie and Finnegan, and a cool Calico cat called Rory Morning Glory.
