These screenings will be done at 1316 Mercy Drive, Muskegon, MI 49444.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Call 231-739-1931 for more information. These screenings are by appointment only and spots are limited, so call soon.<\/p>\n<p>Carotid artery blockage and stroke are caused by a hardening of the arteries. The carotid arteries in the neck feed the brain its blood supply, which is why it is important for arteries to be clean and open. Plaque can build up on the artery walls, in turn reducing blood supply to the brain. Unfortunately, sometimes the first symptom of a blockage in the carotid is a stroke. A quick, painless, non-invasive screening using ultrasound can check for blockages in the carotid arteries.
