{"id":1301,"date":"2017-03-16T22:16:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-16T22:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/msapc.managed3.brouser.net\/plastic-surgery\/?p=1301"},"modified":"2021-07-09T19:29:34","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T19:29:34","slug":"breast-augmentation-remains-most-popular-plastic-surgery-procedure-with-facelifts-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/msapc.com\/plastic-surgery\/breast-augmentation-remains-most-popular-plastic-surgery-procedure-with-facelifts-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Breast Augmentation Remains Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedure, with Facelifts on the Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/author\/gabrielle-olya\/\">Gabrielle Olya<\/a> \u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GabyOlya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@GabyOlya<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/style\/real-housewives-jacqueline-laurita-reveals-new-breast-implants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breast augmentation<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0most popular\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/tag\/plastic-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cosmetic procedure<\/a>\u00a0performed in the U.S. for the second year in a row, with\u00a0290,467 patients opting for the surgery, according to new statistics released by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plasticsurgery.org\/news\/press-releases\/new-plastic-surgery-statistics-reveal-focus-on-face-and-fat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Society of Plastic Surgeons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Daniel Maman of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plasticsurgeonsnyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">740 Park Plastic Surgery<\/a>\u00a0believes the surgery continues to be popular because \u201cit caters to a very large percentage of the population, it\u2019s one of the more readily available procedures, and the price point is affordable for many ($5,000 to $15,000 is the range),\u201d he tells PEOPLE. \u201cIn addition, implant technology continues to improve significantly from year-to-year, making the procedures safer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 statistics show a 4 percent increase in breast augmentations from the previous year, which Maman attributes to an increase in knowledge and a decrease in the stigma surrounding breast enhancing surgery due to social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe as providers have done a better job at informing patients about available options online and also through social media,\u201d he says. \u201cI also think social media has helped make\u00a0plastic surgery mainstream to some degree, and patients are more open to discussing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ASPS data also found that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/tv\/julia-louis-dreyfus-why-she-wont-get-a-facelift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facelifts<\/a>\u00a0have become more popular in the past year, reclaiming their spot in the top five cosmetic procedures along with breast augmentation, liposuction\u00a0(235,237 procedures, up 6 percent from 2015), nose reshaping (223,018 procedures, up 2 percent from 2015) and\u00a0eyelid surgery (209,020 procedures, up 2 percent from 2015)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/bodies\/breast-augmentation-most-popular-plastic-surgery-facelifts-on-the-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breast Augmentation Remains Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedure, with Facelifts on the\u00a0Rise<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Gabrielle Olya \u2022 @GabyOlya Breast augmentation\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0most popular\u00a0cosmetic procedure\u00a0performed in the U.S. for the second year in a row, with\u00a0290,467 patients opting for the surgery, according to new statistics released by&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1301","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
