Robot-assisted surgery allows our surgeons to perform various types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility, and control than is possible with traditional techniques.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This type of surgery can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, and is performed through just a few small incisions. Because it\u2019s minimally invasive, it offers a variety of benefits. How Does Robotic Surgery Work?<\/b><\/p>\n

When performing robotic surgeries at Muskegon Surgical Associates, we use a machine called the <\/span>da Vinci Surgical System<\/span><\/a>, the most widely used clinical robotic surgical system. <\/span>

\n<\/span>Here\u2019s how it works: the system features a camera and mechanical arms with surgical instruments attached to them that can bend and rotate far more than the human hand. The instruments are controlled by one of our surgeons from a computer console, which provides a magnified, 3 dimensional, HD view of the surgical site inside the patient\u2019s body. How amazing is that?<\/span><\/p>\n

The biggest benefit is that it sends real-time images that are highly magnified with excellent resolution, much more advanced than what your surgeon would see performing a surgery standing over you. This results in more precision and control, as well as<\/span>\u00a0greater range of motion, and overall better access to the operation area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Like any surgery, there are always possible risks involved such as infection or bleeding. Every case is different and what one patient experiences another may not.
